Step 3. Load the cotton ball or brush with oil and apply to the back of the image. The image will become transparent. No need to soak it with oil, just apply enough until the image is visible from the back.
Step 4. Use a bone folder or the back of a spoon to rub and burnish the back of the image. Burnishing will transfer the image onto the background. Apply some force when burnishing but don’t rub too hard so the wet paper back doesn’t rip.
Step 5. Lift the corner of your transfer to check on the progress. If the transfer is still too faint place the transfer down and burnish some more. If the paper has dried you can add more oil and continue burnishing until the transfer is ready.
